An ongoing group of writers that meets every Monday night at a restaurant in White Plains. Two people submit every week and the group reviews their work and discusses it at the meeting. Meetings are usually two hours. A writer will on average submit once a month. Before being admitted to the group, we require a writing sample. Any representative work will be fine.  It doesn't have to be long.

We are a creative community center in the heart of Westport in a 19th century carriage house that looks like a little red schoolhouse. We teach creative writing in small groups and have many sections. We also teach screenwriting, writing for children, memoir, songwriting and have a teen program in July. The group meets the last Wednesday of every month to discuss New Yorker essays and short stories. The PLUS is a pre-meeting, separate discussion of a book ( fiction or non-fiction ) chosen in advance by the group. A member may participate in The New Yorker meeting without joining the book discussion. All essays, short stories, and books are chosen at each meeting by the group. In some cases the group may decided to devote multiple sessions to a book.

Do you like to write? If yes, do you find it difficult to make time to sit down and write? This is a meetup group for people to get together and, well, write. The group (or whoever RSVPs) meets once a week. For 1-2 hours (or however long you can stay) we sit down and write quietly. Once a month we'll get together afterwards to talk about our writing or just socialize. Welcome to Staten Island writers! Meetups will start with a writing prompt which members will have 20 or so minutes to write. They will then be read, but this isn't obligatory. Afterwards, we will review someone's writing and take turns offering them constructive feedback. Members can either bring in copies of their writing or upload it in the files section so others can review it prior to the meetup.
